What should a well-designed website have?

3 lipca 2019

Objectively we wonder what must have my website to be well designed. A good web designer works with objective criteria, only then you can make the web convert and the visitor feel close and confident in carrying out an action on the website. In this article we want to give you some general guidelines that will ensure that your web design is consistent and conveys the values of your brand.

It should represent the values of your brand

The brand is essential; it helps you build trust with your target audience, so before a good website you must have a good corporate identity. The web will only be one element of this identity. A bad corporate identity or one that is not in tune with your customers is the first step so that your website does not convert. The web must be the reflection of that brand, beyond the typography or color used, must be able to connect with your potential customers through design.

Keep it simple

Design that focuses on simplicity never fails. Here we play with so-called relationship concepts, all design elements must relate to each other in a clear way. To make it easy for our visitors to navigate and find the information they are looking for quickly, we should always opt for a simple design.
The most important thing is to build a website that is simple, readable and easy to understand.

Organize your content

We come to one of the key points, the development of a website can not be completed without text and images. The texts must represent what the company wants to convey, be easy to read and understand for all audiences and most importantly be optimized for web positioning.
Once you know the objective of your website and its target audience, you can begin to modify the content to fit the goals. Be sure to give your visitors valuable and relevant information that is easily accessible.

Color Theory

The most common mistake people make in their web design is to put a wide variety of colors in their web design. The color scheme of your website is an important and critical factor in the design, and can have a dramatic impact on your possible success.
Choosing the right colors is never an easy task. However, there are numerous online tools that you can use to help you create color shades or find the right colors to complement. Colors have the power to affect our feelings, perceptions and even interactions, so before choosing the color scheme of your website, it is vital to acquire a basic understanding of color and its effects.

Fundamentals of typography

Using the right font can provide a complete look and feel to your web design; it plays an important role in providing visual hierarchy and contrasts. But as with colours, it's easy to make the wrong choice of fonts.

The importance of white space in web design

If you've dealt with a web designer you've heard of breathing content. It's a way of referring to the blank spaces between the elements. The space is free, unlike the design for printing a server will not charge us more for leaving a little extra space between the elements of our website. Our recommendation as a guideline for web design is that at least 50 to 70 pixels exist between each element. You will also have to take into account that in mobile devices the space appears to be larger, due to the reduced size of the screen.
Adding space between lines and paragraphs will provide a cleaner, more organized and professional appearance. Giving space to elements is also useful for creating a focus on your website.

Proper alignment

Did you know that Google penalizes websites with justified text? If you use WordPress you will have noticed that you cannot justify the text. Everything has a meaning, justifying a text makes the gaps between words not uniform, and this especially on small screens is uncomfortable, making our design less fluid. We don't just have to focus on text alignment. Other elements such as images, or bonotes must also be correctly aligned.
Alignment is used to improve the design and it is not just a question of whether to align text or images to the left, right or center of the design. The use of correct and clear alignment will make your site design visually more appealing and easier to use.

Photographs that inspire visitors

A set of good photographs will make your website look better and convey your brand values. Forget about free image banks and sell a real experience to your users. To help increase the credibility of your site and generate the much desired trust in the customer, you must take your own quality photos or if you have available budget, commission a photo session, as important is a good web design as a set of images that speaks of your brand.

Focus on conversion with simple contact forms

Don't torment visitors who want more information about your service or products with irrelevant form fields. Your visitors come to your website with an interest, you must make it easy and here the design of clean, pleasant and usable contact forms is fundamental.

Be consistent in web design

And last but not least, your website must be consistent. For this we recommend you to create a simple style manual, determine fonts, colors, white spaces, sizes of images, and so on. Consistency in the design elements is of utmost importance. As with alignment, we tend to notice inconsistencies of elements in a website if as visitors we expect all the pages that compose it to look like each other.
