Cargill is an international corporation offering retail, agricultural, financial and industrials services to clients around the world. Being recognized as one of the largest food manufacturer in the world, Cargill's operational scope ranges across sectors and geographies. Today the company is considered to have significant influence on nutrition, agriculture and foods production globally. In 1991 Cargill opened the first office in Warsaw, aiming to explore the investment and market opportunities in Poland. Today the company employs over 1,900 people in Poland, and holds over 15 offices across the country.
Our goal was to optimize the company's performance by building one integrated system that would allow for smooth and disruptive flow of historical and current data, necessary to accurately perform the process of price quotation and valuation. The key challenge was to build a product of the highest business and technical quality, compliant with international standards and requirements. The core features required by the system was its high functionality and measurable influence on users' effectiveness. To achieve this goal, the application required a powerful yet intuitive mechanism for integrating various data pools. Another major challenge was to build a platform that would allow access, view, and analysis of historical data without disrupting the integrity of the system.
Regular client meetings and ongoing communication with the client teams were crucial to the successful implementation of the project. Together we the client, we started off by verifying the detailed business and technical specifications and requirements. This process laid down a solid ground for a smooth transition between the consequent phases of the project. The incremental and iterative delivery implemented using the agile methodology allowed us to collect and apply client's feedback on a regular basis throughout the project.
Over 20 different data pools were incorporated into the system and integrated with a range of several useful functionalities, including data imports, edits, updates, as well as an intuitive engine for price quotation and assessment. A carefully designed scalable data model was built for easy archiving of the data and to prevent system disruptions even when processing large amounts of data.
The price assessment and valuation engine of the system was particularly important to meet the core business goal. Our solution was a functional and intuitive processor designed to integrate various data pools and break down and recognize the different components necessary for accurate price assessment. The data integration process included a smooth import of the MS Access data, data validation conditions, as well as all information on input data and all related tasks.
At the output, we created an effective and functional web application built with the cutting-edge Yii2 framework. A transparent and attractive graphical layout allows users to take full advantage of the business value of the application and conduct the process of price assessment and valuation quickly and effectively.
The system has been carefully designed to account for the confidentiality aspects which are at the core of Cargill's values. Users have access to different parts of the system depending on their role and scope of responsibilities which allows for maintaining the confidentiality boundaries across the different departments of the company. The access limitations were introduced both on the side of the user as well as the server so that access restrictions are retained on those parts of the system which are shared between different users.
An added module of backup and task logging, as well as the language management functionality allow for keeping the system secure, while at the same time making it flexible and available to users globally.

The LNB company is a part of the global Cargill group, which offers food products as well as agricultural, financial and industrial services to customers around the world. The company started its activity in Poland in 1993. Over the years, the LNB has undertaken further investments, launching a modern, fully automated Premixes Production Facility, Research & Development Center and modern warehouses. LNB is currently the leading manufacturer of feed additives for swine, poultry and bovine animals. The brand is present in many countries around the world and its expansion continues.
The main objective of the website redesign process was to create product and information pages that would meet the needs of the users. The information architecture turned out to be one of the major challenges – we had to group and sort the information, so that every customer could find a product or service that meets the needs of his business. A vital part of the project was to create a place for individual clients, for which LNB creates dedicated products. A place, where they could find information about the technologies used by the company and research being carried out. One of the goals was also to emphasize the role of LNB as an trustworthy and experienced expert on the feed additive market.
During the first phase of the project we’ve conducted a detailed analysis of the previous website and carried a series of workshops with Client’s sales representatives. Based on the acquired information, we’ve been able to design a well-organized website structure and navigation. We’ve reorganized the structure of information in a way that clearly shortens the user flow and facilitates the access to the desired content.
The home page includes all main categories of LNB products with a short description and the option to go to the product catalog. There is also a place for the news section focused on the agricultural market, company and new products. The addition of contact details in the footer makes it easier for customers to reach out to LNB.
The redesign of the product catalog has been also a very important aspect of the project. On the category page, the user selects sequentially the livestock group, nutritional situation and product type. Based on the selection process, users receive a detailed information on products that meet the needs of their breeding animals.
The use of the dynamic content loading, for instance on the category subpages and on the knowledge base subpages, constitutes an added value of this project. The website has been based on the popular and easy to use Wordpress content management system – this way the Client is able to easily change and update the page content without the need of any complex IT technologies.
The result of our work is a visually attractive corporate portal emphasizing Client’s experience and position on the market. The website stands out from the competition not only with its visual side, but also with its usability. Due to the introduced changes, the website has become more user-friendly and better adapted to the needs of users, and thus it realizes more effectively Client's business goals. Thanks to the responsive implementation, the website is also adapted to all mobile devices.
